Biography

Birth

Andrew Ring immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Andrew Ring, son of William Ring and Mary Durrant was born about 1618 in Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.[1][2]

Marriage

He married first to DEBORAH HOPKINS 23 APR 1646 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony.[3][1] She was the daughter of Mayflower passengers Steven and Elizabeth (Fisher) Hopkins.[4]

He married, secondly, to Lettice (Kempton) Ring, widow of John Morton ABT 1674 in Middleboro, MA. [1][4]

Death

He and died 22 Feb 1692/1693 in his 75th year in Plymouth, Plymouth, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[1]

Burial

He is buried on Burial Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Probate

His will is dated 14 December 1691 and proved in Plymouth on 22 March 1692/93. He mentions his children, William (eldest son), Elizer, his grandson, John Mayo (son to his daughter Elizabeth Mayo of Eastham, decd.), his grandson Andrew Ring (son of his son Elizer), his granddaughter Mary Morton (daughter of his daughter Mary Morton), and his three daughters, Mary, Deborah, and Susanna. His inventory was taken on 18 March 1692/93[5]

He was not married to Lettice Hanford. He was married to Lettice Kempton. Even Anderson says she was married to Edward Foster and Edward Jenkins. These 2 Lettice women lived at the same time in the same places. Kempton was married to Ring and to Morton.
